I started this project as a means to fully jump into Marvelous designer, as well as update one of my older character projects. I also wanted to really push the level of realism I could produce with my modeling and my texturing. I used Marvelous Designer to simulate the flightsuit and flak jacket, and then used Zbrush to add additional folds and detail. I retoplogized and unwrapped everything in Maya, then used Marmoset to bake and Substance Painter to texture. Finally, I rendered the rigged character in Blender with Cycles.
From a design perspective, I wanted to create a character that fit within the existing Star Wars and Mandalorian style guides, without pulling directly from an existing design. Some elements of the character are reproductions of existing Star Wars gear (helmet, boots, shoulder armor) and some elements are designed by me to fit within the universe such as the jetpack, flightsuit, holster/belt and more.
The character is 100,000 tris and on 3x 4k and 2x 2k texture sheets.
